Love from Matcha Mill Club Members

“I actively recommended it! Every month my children (now ages 12 and 14) and I get together, read over the information about the month's tea, prepare, and taste it together.”

November S.

⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑

“I am just starting out with the mill club but so far I am highly impressed. I greatly appreciate Ooika producing the Mo Cha (in partnership with Tea Drunk); it was such a unique and pure experience to prepare, learn about, and taste such a historic tea!”

“Pure indulgence of freshly milled matcha is something I look forward to every month!”

Meet Japan’s Most Prized Producers

Ooika holds personal relationships with many of Japan’s highest-awarded producers. Our Matcha Mill Club highlights these farmers, many of whom have never had their Matcha milled as single-origin before.

Our farmers include multiple first-place winners of the Japanese national tea competition, multiple-generation farmers, and producers who focus on largely endangered cultivar methods such as Hand-Picked (Tezumi) and Reeds Shading (Honzusaibai.) Members of the Matcha Mill Club will experience Matcha of a caliber that largely has never entered the United States before – every month.

Kurazumiさん

First place winner of the Annual National Tea Competition for Gyokuro. His father won a stunning total of 5 National Tea Competition.

Tsujiさん

A 5th generation tea farmer. He holds multiple tea awards including the highly coveted Prime Minister’s Award for Agriculture in 2017.

His Matcha holds the distinction of being the only Matcha to receive the Emperor's award.

Shimizuさん

From a highly respected tea farmer family, with over 10 generations before him.

Shimizuさん, his father, brother, and family continue to produce high-grade Uji Matcha.

Revere the Past to Preserve the Future

77%

Heritage Matcha is at risk of being lost forever. From the year 2000 to 2024, the number of Japanese tea farms fell from over 53,000 to now under 12,000. That’s a 77.36% reduction.

12%

Of the remaining 12,000 tea farms, less than 12.5% of the Japanese tea farms are under 49 years of age.

Limited Vintages, Captured

Here are just a few of the Matcha we have sent out in the past. Like wine vintages, once we sell out – that’s it. Fine Tencha is extremely limited in stock.

The unique flavors, aromas, and textures are gone forever, as each year the weather, technique, and soil change. No two Matcha from the same farm is ever the same.
